In this resource you will find Characterisation Drama Lesson Activities with animal family improv cards and ideas. These cards have been created for use with various impro games and exercises but can be used with so many more. The characterisation lesson activities have been designed to explore elements of character, using animals as a starting point. Students will develop a character based on an animal and develop character movement, voice and perspective. If you are teaching characterisation - this is a perfect resource for a double lesson (or substitute class). You can also use the provided improv cards for spontaneous improvisation games where a prompt is needed or otherwise task players to come up with scenes or monologues based on the cards.
Suggested activities for these prompts (explained in the resource):
- Copy Cat
- Animalistics
- What would the animals say?
- Animal monologues
- Short animal scenes
Use these fun 'animalistic' cards (which act as an improvisation scenario) with beginner improv classes or have the cards on hand for advanced activities. If you are teaching improv or characterisation to middle school or high school or doing improv with adults, these improvisation cards provide instant prompts and lots of fun!
Example animal family prompts:
- A school of whales
- A clowder of cats
- A tribe of monkeys
